GOALS
-Your Primary Goal in this phase of Growth is to double the weight of your calf by 56 days
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
-Research shows that Calves that Gain appropriately during this early phase will produce more milk than herd mates that gain at "Traditional levels"
HOW CAN THIS BE OBTAINED?
-Feeding levels of milk Replacer solution that are higher than Traditional levels, 4 litres/day (1.1 gallon/day), is the key strategy to "doubling" the birth weight

Goals
- Successful transition from weaning to group housing environment
- Successful transition to fermented feeds and/or TMR
- Minimum average gain of 0.8 Kg (1.8 lbs)
Key Points
- The transition phase is the time when the recently weaned calf is moved from individual calf hutches to group housing.
- During the first week it is important to minimize stress as much as possible so introduce the calves to groups of 3-6 at first. To further minimize stress, keep calf on the same feed as was offered in the earlier stage (0-2 months)

The primary goal during this phase is too develop proper skeletal and lean muscle growth without excessive body fat accumulation.
